Málaga is the best city in the world to live in according to foreigners.Forbes magazine has reported on the result of this ranking, for which InterNations surveyed over 12,000 expatriates from 177 nationalities residing in 181 countries or territories worldwide.
Málaga stands out for its local friendliness, quality of life, leisure opportunities,and work-life balance.The annual ranking conducted by the expat community InterNations places Málaga as the best city in the world to live in, followed by two other Spanish cities:Alicante and Valencia, out of a total of 49 cities evaluated worldwide.Forbes magazine has highlighted this ranking in its digital editions for the United States and France.
InterNations surveyed over 12,000 expatriates from 177 nationalities residing in 181 countries or territories. According to the survey respondents, Málaga is the highest-rated city in terms of local friendliness: 89% stated that their neighbors are particularly friendly towards foreign residents(compared to the global average of 65%),which is why it “comes as no surprise” that Málaga ranks second in the list of “making friends,” as mentioned by InterNations.
The quality of life index (second place)is another highlight for Málaga,whose climate ranks first,and which also ranks among the top ten in terms of natural environment (eighth place). “Fortunately, it seems that there are many opportunities to enjoy it, as the city ranks second for leisure options,” state the authors of this ranking.Málaga also ranks first in subcategories such as work and leisure,work-life balance,and ranks among the top ten in travel and transportation(eighth place)and healthcare(tenth place).
However,it only ranks 41st in the local job market. Overall, 88% of foreigners are satisfied with their life in Málaga,compared to the global average of 72%. “Friendly people, affordable prices,and great quality of life – number one, Málaga seems to have it all,” concludes InterNations.Forbes highlights that the Andalusian city is “known for its rich history, artistic and cultural scene (Picasso was born here),pleasant climate,and gastronomy.”
